I've been a huge fan of Mr. Gabor's art work for years but have had to settle for bits at a time in the form of album cover artwork. To have so many images collected in book form is truly a delight !!!!
Children's books get all the best illustrations ! This is a case in point - the artwork is full of life and emotion
So much work must have gone into each drawing - really impressive.
Hope the artist (Tim Gabor) does more books like this. I'd love to see his take on The Borrowers.
Great story and a must read for children and adults! You can get lost in the artwork as well. Highly recommend!
It's great to see this old story come back to life with such whimsical flair! Gabor's artwork and Kessler's fresh narrative makes this a fun read for all -- my kids and their grandparent's re-read the book imitating the wonderful John Cleese's voice in the animated version (by Rabbit Ears) over and over. Unlike the film, we can appreciated the amazing color pencil drawings at our leisure (how does he get such color and depth from -- pencils?!), and that little Lyle Lovett-like Tom is a treasure. Both poignant and sweet, I wish there were more of these beautiful books, in and print!
